Captain Dennis D. Ferguson, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ferguson, Elm Hall, Iowa State University, was killed in action in Veit Nam, according to notification received by his parents Saturday. 

Captain Ferguson, a Marine helicopter pilot, was reported missing in action March 20 when his helicopter was forced down by bad weather into the ocean off Phue Bai, South Viet Nam. 

He had participated in the March 10-12 evacuation of the Ashau Special Forces camp in South Viet Nam. 

He was a 1957 graduate of the United Community High School, Boone, and of Iowa State university in February, 1962.

Capt. Ferguson enlisted in the Marine Corps in March, 1962.

He had been stationed in Viet Nam since August of last year. 

Captain Ferguson is survived by his wife, Arlene, Costa Mesa, Calif.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ferguson, Elm Hall; a brother, Gary, Nevada, and a sister, Mrs. Darwin Riddle, 519 Welch Ave. 

Funeral services will be held late next week from the Welin Funeral Chapel, Boone, with burial in the Paton Cemetery.
