Aviation Machinist Mate Second Rank James Richard Vawter's hometown was Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of Dick Mavity and Susanna Faris.
James left Iowa State College sometime before 1942. He joined the Naval Reserve around January 26, 1943 at Berkeley California.
A note from his father indicated that he died on March 19, 1945, although his death had been listed as March 16, 1945 at San Bruno, California. James was married to Hazel Alford at the time of his death.
