Biography

Corporal Robert F. Carlon was born on June 29, 1912 to Harry F. Carlon and Lulu M. Evans. He grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Robert married Helen Rillihan in February 1936 and worked for the Carlon Construction Company in Oskaloosa. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1941 in Civil Engineering.

Robert entered service that October, being inducted at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He was promoted to corporal in January 1944. He served with Company A, of the 1876 Engineers Aviation Battalion beginning at March Field and other various locations in the South Pacific.

He died on Luzon Island in the Philippines on February 6, 1945. His wife had passed away on June 27, 1943.
