Biography
Corporal Fred Alfred Sell was the son of Mrs. Rosa Sell. He came to Iowa State from Chelsea, Iowa.
He was formerly of the Class of 1918, but enlisted April 10, 1917 in Ames, Iowa. The army assigned him to Company F, 2nd Regiment Engineers. He was transferred to Fort Logan, Colorado and later El Paso, Texas. He was promoted to corporal sometime before arriving in England on October 2, 1917.
Fred was killed in action in Belleau Woods, France on June 12, 1918.
