Marvin Richard Adams was born on May 5, 1923 to Archie Adams and Mabel (Blake) Adams in Bradgate, Iowa in the county of Humboldt. Archie was a farmer and Mabel was a housewife. Marvin was the third child born to Archie and Mabel. Marvin graduated from Humboldt High School. He then spent some time in the service before attending Iowa State College.
Marvin was married to Verda Leigh Patterson (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Patterson of Marathon) on August 21, 1949 in the Methodist Church in Marathon.
Information taken from obituary in the Humboldt Independent, Saturday, January 16, 1965, Page 1. Capt. Marvin R Adams was one of four persons killed in an airplane accident near Mannheim, Germany on Wednesday, January 13, 1965. Three of those killed were Air Force Personnel and one was a civilian. The plane owned by the Aero Club at Sembach Air Base, had taken off from that base. Capt. Adams was born in 1923 and graduated from Humboldt High School in May 1940. A pilot he had been in the service since World War II. Surviving are his parents; his wife and three children who were in Germany; and two sisters, Joyce (Mrs. Harold Dayton) of Minnesota, and Gladys, of Chicago, Ill.
