Biography

Platoon Sergeant William Brand was the son of Mr. Karl Brand. He grew up in New Hampton, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State College in 1914.

William enlisted May 27, 1918 and was assigned to Company D, 352nd Infantry, 88th Division. He transferred to Officer Training School on June 10, 1918.

Later, on September 10, he was assigned to Company 46, 163rd Draft Brigade. He made platoon sergeant on September 20.

William died of pneumonia following influenza at Camp Dodge, Iowa, December 11, 1918.
